Road rage is becoming ever more common on our roads today with drivers suffering from stress and fatigue making them short tempered and impatient. There are a few simple steps which can be followed in order to make our roads a calmer place.

• Get enough rest – Try not to drive if you are tired, you may feel irritable and it may affect your driving ability.
• Keep calm in the front – Try not to have arguments with your passengers, keep children entertained in the back with music or books and try not to raise your voice or be too distracted by them.
• Leave your work on your desk – Try not to bring work problems into the car with you especially if you are on the commute home. If you leave the office annoyed and stressed it may effect your driving and make you more likely to be involved in a road rage incident.
• Keep your distance – If you notice an irresponsible driver ahead, try to keep your distance and avoid tailing them too closely.
• Unwind – Listen to enjoyably and pleasant music in the car – whatever will put you in a calm and relaxed mood.
• Allow Time – Trying to rush your journey is not a good idea and is more likely to lead to stress and rage. Try to factor in enough time for your journey and avoid speeding.
• Take regular breaks – Regular breaks are important, especially if travelling on a long journey. Make sure you stop at regular intervals to avoid overtiredness or complacency on the road.
• On the Commute – Commuting can be one of the most stressful times of the day, to try and cut down on the stress try car sharing every now and again, change your route, change your time of travel or use another form of transport.
